It seems like home internet prices are over the roof top in Brandon. We were on student promotion deal until now( my daughter is in university) with Westman, used to pay 48.99/month but it ended and we are paying $90. Like, really? Do everyone around pay these high bills for internet or there are some cheaper options around? We usually don''t use much except couple hours of online streaming everyday but I''m just curious how much on average family pays for home internet services in Brandon. Please help me get a better plan.

I am sure everyone will start chiming up about Westman and how it is local yadda yadda ya. They will all be within a few bucks really if looking just at a service. I know when I had multiple services with MTS, Westman couldn't touch the discounts. Now that I have just internet I am paying $75 bucks with taxes for the one up from MTS. I stream media so I want to pay a little more for the download speed.  
Westman 30-$68 + $4 wifi - Total $72 (Save $4/mo providing own router)  
MTS 25-$72 includes wifi  
 
It all comes down to who you are feeling comfortable with and who can give you best reliability in your area.

I have a hard time feeling sorry for anyone in the city that complains about prices or performance of their internet.  
 
You can get either cable or MTS internet in the city for $57.95 (cable) and $64 (MTS) regular as per their websites 30 seconds ago.

What do you say that? I think we pay a fair amount for the service we get.  
 
I like Telus 150MB/150MB fibre plan its $42 a month for 6 months. Regular $80 a month.  
 
MTS has a similar FiON plan but its $80 a for 6 months and $140 regular!

Interesting to see this topic come up as I just got my MTS bill and the price has jumped $5 for no apparent reason (no increase in service to go along with the price increase). From memory at least when Westman did their annual increases they bumped up the speed along with it at least to soften the blow.  
 
I am a bit torn at the moment as I do like the MTS internet service (have had no problems) but now for $4 cheaper I can get a faster up and down speed from Westman. The bundling is where it gets tricky, as our 2 cell phones are with MTS so we save $30 on that. I imagine if one was to have a traditional TV service this would further increase bundle discounts with both providers.  
 
Once both my cell phones are off contract I guess it's time to do some more research and shop around. Can be a bit of a pain but worth it to save a few bucks and get the best service I guess

Unfortunately for us our only option is inet. We pay a little over $70 a month for our internet  
 
We had a cheaper package before they upgraded the whole system. It was supposed to be a free upgrade! Ya right lol. The changed the packages and they cost more of course

We don't have home internet. We have family plan cell phones (2) with combined 15GB data per month for about $75ea. Tether your phone to any computer to access the internet. LTE high speeds. 15GB is lots unless you are watching movies or tv over the internet. Also no wifi in the house.
