I'm looking for a particular fabric and just had no luck. I have tried fabricland and was surprised that they did not have it. It's crazy as I only need 8 inches of it. Does anyone have something like this? Or would recommend a place to go?  
 
It is basically the scales of a Dragon like toothless from "How to train a dragon"  
 
Any information would be helpful, thanks.

The second hand stores have something similar.

I should have added to look in the clothing section.

First, if available, you could buy an identical article and cut the fabric you need from it. Not the cheapest solution, but the fabric will match perfectly.  
 
Second, if you only need a small piece, 8 x 11 or less you could scan the fabric you have and print it on cotton fabric sheet(s) specifically designed for an inkjet printer. The fabric would be different but you would have an exact visual match. Staples might be able to help you with this if needed.

If I were you, I would fabric paint the pattern on to another fabric. I’m not sure what a dragon pattern looks like but they do have mermaid tail blankets at Giant Tiger that you could cut up (I’m not sure how much they are).
