Last night, many stores in the Shoppers mall were flooded, and many may not open today. I think the water came in from the old Safeway doors (by Tommy Guns) and something like 30 stores were hit to varying degrees. The further away from that entrance, the better chance they will be open.

Hers what the mall put out on Twitter this AM. I have a message in to see if can learn more:

I was told by a friend that Shoppers Drug Mart roof is collapsed.  
True??

I would just like to give a big shoutout to the maintenance guy and mall staff for all their hard work to get the water cleaned up. They did an amazing job and hardly ever get the recognition they deserve

No roof collapse, had some minor flooding, so to ensure customer safety regarding wet floor patches during clean up, only the pharmacy was open today, whole store should be back open at 8am Tuesday

I heard the same rumor about shoppers drug mart, glad it’s not quite true

I head the rumor about the roof collapsing at SDM as well. Now that I read it's not true, I don't know which to believe. I'm glad the maintenance guy is getting some recognition for his hard work. Nice guy. Honesty, I've always had a little crush on him. : )

"Our location was impacted by the extreme weather on Sunday night. The health and safety of our guests, tenants and employees is our greatest priority. Clean up efforts are underway, with most common areas and a majority of retailers open to the public. Guests are encouraged to contact stores for their availability."

Does anyone know what's happening with Tommy Guns? Their app says closed and I try calling the store and just get a generic answer machine message.

Falling are not the same hazard as water on the floors. Hopefully there will be more than a maintenance guy(with all due respect), making sure that the roofing is safe for not only SDM but the rest of the tenants.

Shoppers Drug Mart tells me that they had some overland flooding last night and as a result are for today open for RX pickup at the front door today. Best to call in ahead of time, curbside pickup will be available and pay by cash or card. I’m told by a store rep that The store itself will be open again on Thursday.

Pasquale you do realize that maintenance people do have a lot of skills that come with the job and you don't know what other skills they have from other jobs or how much they are qualified for that certain job. Also most of the water in any location in the mall was from the ground not from the roof. Everyone in the mall has been working hard to reopen stores and services. As the stores have had to call in maintenance people to help with the work. Also maintenance people were essential workers during all of what has been going on as they are the ones keeping buildings in a safe working order. Just would like to say great job to everyone at the mall, to the staff from the stores and to everyone involved in the clean up. Kind of amazing how everyone can help each other.

I believe there are three maintenance guys that work at the mall plus a lot of other staff members. It takes a group of people to do the cleanup from all the flooding.
