Depending on the use, Methyl Hydrate or Isopropyl alcohol.

Both have serious consequences if ingested.

I need this to clean the old sealant on an rv...

this is what it says to use, but it is from the US.

denatured alcohol is illegal in canada, I found out.

I used mineral spirits to clean up my rv sealant. Not to remove just clean and reapply over top the old stuff.

Methanol/methyl hydrate

Methanol which is commonly sold as methyl hydrate everywhere.
Ethanol is an alcohol with 2 carbons, methanol with 1. If being used as a solvent should work essentially the same.
