Batteries for watches?

So what options are there when the battery of your dress watch dies. Who puts in new batteries? Walmart used to. Do you just throw the watch away ?

It’s a drive but Kassie’s in Moosomin are very good and will get complicated repairs on valuable or antique watches done for you as well. They have organized extensive repairs on two heirloom watches for my Dad.

One of the Brandon Jewellers told me that a watch valuable to me was not repairable. Kassie’s put a battery in it and it’s been fine ever since.

I used to go to Walmart, last time they sold them but would not replace. They did have the tool and handed it to me to try and remove my own back (which I could not get off) so didn't buy battery there.

I ended up going to Reesor's. Any jewellery store in the mall should do it or possible TCM Jewellers on Rosser Ave.

We just have a set of teeny tiny screwdrivers etc we bought from Princess Auto years ago. We buy new batteries at the dollar store across from Superstore.

the battery depends on the type of watch. Some backs screw off and need a special tool. Some are press fitted and come apart with a blade .
Internet search your watch brand and model and most likely you will find an "how to".
The press fitted ones are easy enough but some, like Seiko, need tools and resetting electronically.
