unreasonable shop owner at Clear Lake

I had an experience at Clear Lake last week where my teenage son purchased a t-shirt in a local shop. When he showed it to me, it was completely inappropriate for a boy of his age and was evidence that his brain and judgement have a long ways to go!! When I took it to return it to the store, the owner refused because it had been on sale and was final sale. Everything in the store was 20% off so everything was a final sale I guess. I get that. But was this not unusual circumstances? It was a $35 T-SHIRT and now my son (with the poor judgement) is out that money as I will simply throw the shirt in the garbage before I will let him wear it. I spoke with the store owner about age appropriate shirts and any feelings of regret that young kids are walking around with such trash on their shirts because they happened to have money on them at the time. He would not budge on his decision, knowing that I plan to toss the rather expensive shirt in the garbage. This is not a chain store and this was the owner. He can make any decision he wanted to about returning the shirt, but chose not to. We often do alot of back to school shopping at that store in the summer. We will not be doing that this year.
