Is there anywhere in Brandon or nearby that sells Annie Sloan chalk paint or somewhere online that doesn't cost my first born to ship? Or, has anyone used another brand and had wonderful results?

I was looking looking into it at one time and ended up going with Fusion Mineral Paint. You can get it in Virden, Boissevain and Winnipeg. It’s the same idea. I love the stuff!!

Is there a reason you are set on the Annie Sloan brand? I have made my own with pretty good results, and of course MUCH cheaper! There are a variety of 'recipes' online, I use 1/3 cup plaster of paris mixed with 1/3 cup water, then add 1 cup paint. It's a great way to use up bits of leftover paint too!

I had the same problem finding it -eventually found a shop in Bismarck that carried it, Eco Chic I believe it was called. I really like the Annie Sloan but am actually on the look out right now for other brands that are easier to get my hands on. There is a Canadian brand called Fat Paint that you can find in Wpg, and another Canadian brand called Country Chic that I’ve come across out west but not sure if/where it sells around here? Mudpaint is a US company and not chalk paint but similar idea/results - you can supposedly buy it in Minot but the retailer is NEVER open. I’ve seen recipes for making your own chalk paint by adding plaster of paris to regular latex paint but haven’t attempted it myself. One of the paint stores in town (I think on Park?) has a chalk paint base that they will make any color for you... but I couldn’t find any reviews online for the brand at the time. Let me know what you end up going with, I’d be interested in any reviews I’ll have to look into the above poster’s alternative too.

Annie Sloan is a great chalked paint rusoleum (sp?) has a line of chalked paint but I found it very thin and runny making it harder to work with, they do have a sealing spray though that was great and easy to use. Michael's carries a very nice line of chalked paint called Americana(I think that's the name??) it's a thicker consistency and amazing to work with, great range of colours. I would say same quality as Annie Sloan! They also have some great sealing waxes as well!!

I've also mixed my own chalk paint and had fantastic results. Pinterest has lots of recipes. I mixed the plaster of paris until i had a runny mix and mixed it into the paint. I usually end up thinning my paint anyway so my mix was quite runny. I do buff it between coats, I feel it helps bind and harden paint better too. Might be my imagination but that's what I do.  
Mixing your own is so much cheaper and it works just as well. My friend painted her kids bedroom dresser 6 years ago and it's still perfect.
