Can anyone recommend a good hardwood floor cleaner.The one we are using leaves a cloudy like film on the floors

I recommend Murphy’s. Works great, keeps the wood alive and we love the smell.

I use Bona spray and mop.

I second Bona Hardwood cleaner. It’s what the pros recommended to me as well as the Bona mop with washable cover. You just spray on the cloth cover. It goes a long way and is great for hardwood. Most flooring places carry it, as does Canadian Tite, Home Depot, Walmart, etc.

In the end, we use a microfibre mop and a spray bottle filled with hot water. Everything else left a film, and if something needed disinfecting I would spot clean with vinegar or something else, but our floors shine best when the simplest solution is used!

Murphy’s oil on your wood floors! It can actually damage them and make recoating them more difficult. What happens is you add an extra layer which then needs to be chemically stripped off in order for a coat of polyurethane to bond to it. Do not use this. Switch to a product such as Bona or Squeeky.  
You aren’t actually cleaning the wood, but the finish on the floors, so unless you have u finished floors, don’t be using Murphy’s oil. Don’t use vinegar either. Its an acid and actually damages the finish on your floors by breaking it down over time. So unless you want to be redoing your floors early, stop using this. Not sure who started these trends, but listening to people on the internet about how to care for your expensive hard wood is a bad idea. Talk to the professionals who installed them or try googling it for answers from a reputable flooring manufacturer or call your local hard wood flooring company. Kellington floors or sunset creek hardwood flooring are both local and could steer you in the right direction.

I clean homes for a living so each floor is different depending on the color,age,type of wood,and finish.All people will have cloudy films left on all floors,but many will not see it because their flooring hides it better,but may feel it if walking barefoot. The problem is people add way to much cleaner because it smells great. Good for the companies that make this stuff and stores that sell it,but not so great for flooring. For most of my wood and laminate floor homes I use a mixture. Per bucket (4 litres) hot water. But the trick is add the solution after filling.Don't make foam and bubbles. 1 cap of Murphys, 1/8 cup vinegar (this cuts the foaming and bubble action), 1/8 cup only, of Lysol or Mr.Clean Make sure mop is well squeezed out of excess water when applying to floor,remember it is wood. I use just a regular Vileda screw on mop head as it can be removed and tossed in washer (air dry)Hope this helps.

Incorrect, not everyone will have a cloudy finish on their hard wood floors. If the correct floor cleaning product is used, there shouldn’t be a cloud or film. In fact, it’s quite common for us to have to remove this film the first few times we clean a house after a former cleaner has used the incorrect product on the floors. After a few times over, we remove the wax/cloudy/film that was left by products with a residue or buildup and then educate our clients on the proper way to care for their floors by avoiding products like Murphy’s oil, Mr. Clean and vinegar on their hard wood floors.
