Electric Tankless Water Heaters

Hello,

I am looking for impressions and experience after using an electric tankless water heater. PLease i:nclude brand and size by kilowatt. I am looking at installing one in a mobile home outside of town and would like to hear of all experiences good or bad. Home has 200 amp service.

Talked to a plumber?

I thought tankless might be the way to go but when i asked a plumber and explained my hot water requirements he told me that it wasn't a good choice for me. He explained what they were best used for-my mobile home wasnt it.

Can you expand on your reply?

The mobile home in question is a single wide 12x50' with a single occupant. Vanity, kitchen sink, shower/tub and washing machine (likely to be used for cold wash only on most occasions).

Vibe,

Due to renos, a 50g hot water tank is not a viable option. Neat idea though!

The tankless heaters are great for under sink to supply hot water for hand washing dishes etc.

Our kids during University days rented an apartment that used a tankless heater. Good only if you liked cold showers.

We have a tankless propane heater at the cottage and it has no problem keeping up hot water for showers and everything else. Not familiar with electrical ones. I am sure you can get larger electrical ones that could keep up, just depends on what you want to spend I'm sure.

Interesting...in the UK, these used to be quite common - Ascot was one brand. Also, appliances over there are cold water fed, so washing machines, etc have heaters inside, and a shower will often have a heater on the wall just outside the stall. However, for larger quantities of hot water, homes in the UK still have water tanks with immersion heaters....

Also the water temperature of your incoming water also will have a lot to do with how well your heater works, as if your water is cold as in coming down a community pipe line which generally will be a lot colder than coming out a holding tank
