Looking for suggestions on which alarm company provides the best service and price. We’ve looked online and seen some reviews, but we know that not everyone writes reviews.  
 
Any info, good or bad, is greatly appreciated!

The company with the orange signs. Not gonna say name or it will be removed but should be easy to figure out. Service is horrendous if you ever have an issue needing repair, last time we needed panel servicing it took them 2 weeks to get someone from regina out to us. Also from what I have read they are much higher monthly than others. Believe we paid between 65-70/month.  
 
Side note if anyone reading this does have this service we have 2 indoor infrared cameras from our system we will sell for a reasonable price.

I actually have vivant and no complaints at all. Just really depends on what you want and need and such.

why not try nest locks, doorbell and cameras you can monitor it yourself, save yourself some money over time.

Do the Nest cameras qualify for discounts on your house insurance?

No, in order to qualify for a discount on your home insurance, in must be centrally monitored.

Love the security from camera in the door bell, the screen pad is great, I save $ monthly on heating bills with motion detectors in the house, can control garage door and front entrance from cell phone. Notifies me when someone is at my house. Having security lowers house insurance as well. So of my $80 or less monthly bill I am saving around $40-50 on house insurance and heating. Win win. PLUS my child feels very safe with alarms built into the windows etc. Anytime my cooking (yes, I suck) causes smoke the fire alarms go and they are on the intercom STAT! Go Vivent.

I question if it is worth it to have a monitored alarm system. Last I priced out the system dropped my insurance I believe $5 per month. Not worth it to get an alarm. The Vivent post I was intrigued about. I got a Google Home for Christmas and have been playing around with it. I have added plugs for lights, installed lights, Chromecast, and now looking at the doorbell and nest options. I just priced out window sensors, video doorbell, thermostat, room sensors, smoke/co2 sensor for $1100 bucks. another $400 and I would have every light remote controlled. So for $1500 I can totally create a smart home. If I took the alarm fees at $80/month it would take me 1.5 years to pay the whole system off and then 80 in my pocket from there. All the real difference is then is someone answers before you. Would it not be better if right away your phone buzzed saying there was smoke triggered, you look, call 911.
