Hornet nest removal

Hi, all. Of course, I have done a bit of Googling on this but am looking for feedback from anyone who has personally had experience with removing a hornets' or wasps' nest from a wall.
We are hearing buzzing in the wall and ceiling of our cabin and fear the worst. Has anyone had luck seeking and destroying a nest without causing themselves great injury and without dismantling the building itself?
Of course, it may be best to leave it to the professionals so if anyone has any good plugs for local pest control companies in the Riding Mountain area, those would be appreciated, as well.
