shower head pipe loose?? how to fix?
10/27/2009 at 12:51 PM
Just looking for feedback on how to fix a loose shower head pipe that seems to be sticking out a bit a bit into my fiberglass shower? It is loose, and I can pull it back and forth slightly. I was told there must be no clamp holding the pipe inside the wall? I do not have access to the other side of the wall (or at least I would rather not break into the wall to secure it) if there is another way to do it? It was suggested I spray expanding foam into the hole, and that should hold the pipe, but I noticed the can mentions it is a combustible (and when cured it cannot be exposed to a flame or high temperatures...I worry if I have to do work on my pipes that it may not be a good idea to have that stuff there...also I heard it is quite messy to work with, and may cause more troubles). Also suggested caulking the small hole where the pipe is coming out of the shower? but not sure what type would be sturdy enough? or if the pipe might still vibrate? (maybe adding a shim? with the caulking?)
just wondering what others suggest???
