Purchased a new home that does not have a laundry sink. Would like to install one. Found out that you need a permit, otherwise I would just do it on my own.

Since that's the case does any one know an apprentice plumber that could do this basic install to code ?

I think you actually still do it yourself, it'll just need to be inspected after it's done. I could be wrong, but I'd check it out before you bring in a plumber.

The permit just means it will be inspected after the job is done weather you or a plumber does it. DIY and save alot of money.

I''m really not familiar with code. I would hate to get everything installed and not be approved. Anyone have the main things the inspector would be looking for.

I'' installed a back up sump pump with pvc pipe on my last house with no issues. I feel comfortable attempting this but the inspection has be concerned.

Just do it yourself and forget about the permit. It's a simple job, not like the house will fall down.

If you dont install the trap properly sewer gas could enter your house and could be a health concern. You are on the right track to get an apprentice or someone who at least knows the basics to help you. Good luck with your search.

A simple call to the plumbing inspector is always the right choice. Never assume you don't need a permit. Too many times problems can be discovered down the road, and without any permits, all responsibility falls on the home owner.

It's my understanding that no permit is required for a simple replacement of a plumbing fixture. Permits are only required if you are modifying existing piping or adding appliances/fixtures.
