I need to have some fence work done. I've been given a couple numbers to try UT before I do I'm hoping to get some ballpark idea of what a reasonable quote would look like. Because I have no experience with this, if the first person gave me a quote and the next person gave me a quote that was astronomically higher, I wouldn't know if the high quote was actually a reasonable quote indicative of property workmanship, and the low quote was probably a waste of time. Or if the low quote was reasonable and the high quote was crazy.  
 
So before I call a couple people I'm just wanting to get some basis for what I should expect cost-wise and what questions I should ask.  
 
I don't want to do it myself.  
 
Let me explain what I need.  
 
My house has fencing all around it. 3 sides are 6 foot high wood fencing, and one side is crappy chain-link fence. I wasn't that one side (50 ft) removed and have it replaced with 6 foot high wood fencing similar to the rest of the fence.  
 
So what are reasonable numbers? (Ballpark)  
And what questions should I be asking the contractor.

I built my own fence of similar size, all cedar treated lumber, 4x4 posts, 2x4's, 1x6 6 foot fence boards, hangers, screws, concrete for the posts about $1200 for material. Ball park figures of about 1200-2000 for installation. Get some friends together, you can have it done in a day and save some money.

to say removal of the old one will cost extra.
