Rural Property Markers

The land we just purchased was surveyed several years ago, but how would one ever find the property markers? Would we have to get a metal detector?

The property markers for quarter sections are on the extreme North East corner of your property line. Should be a concrete base with a brass top with the legals inscribed on it.

There's the "marker nearby" sign up in the NE corner, but I can't find the marker

Is the marker recent

If the marker has been placed there recently the actual survey stake will likely be within two or three feet from the marker, usually when they put a marker up the find the original stake which sometimes can be found by looking for an area that had been dug out.

The survey post is 1 foot sw of the orange marker post. The marker post was to be placed 1 foot north east of the survey post, which should be buried at least 6"

Thanks for the information, we have had cattle knock over markers, and have had to look around for the sirvey post, now if they root a marker out of the ground I know where to put the marker, that is if I'm legally able to touch the marker, that is something I'm unsure of so have just left them alone.

Yes you can legally touch the marker. The survey post is what you can't go moving or replacing.
