So, I'm just going to start by saying, my house is clean...well beside the mass amounts of toys that 3 kids, 3 and under brings ha lol but honestly I am proud I can keep on top of things ... BUT I really would like a nice smelling house. We all know those people who you walk into their house and it's like walking into Micheals Craft store (love the smell of that place lol), well, I want to be that person! But I don't know how. I used to love buying candles, but I'm a little hesitant now days (refer back to 3 kids, 3 and under lol). I've thought about scentsys (sp?) but I know don't know if they are worth the money or even work... or wall flowers from bath and body works, do they work? Anyone have any ideas so I can achieve my awesome smelling home? Thankyou!!

I have vanilla oils and put a few drops on a light bulb. There used to be rings that fit over a light bulb and you put the drops in them. I know I got mine at Wal Mart years ago.

I would say NOT scentsy. It doesn't last long and yes it may be kid safe but if it spills then the dye is the wax can stain walls, floors, etc (yes it happened to me). It's very expensive for how long the smell lasts. I haven't found a good solution to the problem yet but I'm looking for one so I'll definitely be watching this discussion!

I wonder about this too! I keep a clean house too! Scentsy smells nice but doesn't last long... wallflowers from bath and body works are okay but seem only good for small areas...  
I noticed that the febreze noticeables work good bc you do notice the different smells but... I'm conscious of the chemicals it released around my kids and I don't like my little crawler, even my preschooler touching it either.  
If you find out something that works for you-let me know too!

Could always buy oils. I have scentsy and I love it. Buttercream Frosting is my favorite wax right now, and honestly it last a lot longer than you think, but if you're in your house all day you will get used to it. But for others walking in it still smells strong.

Scentsy works for sure, you just have to switch your scent bars once a week, otherwise your nose gets used to the scent. You can use the bars again, so just pour them back into the container and use them again next time you want that scent. Right now I switch between flowery and fruity scents. Everyone always comments on how nice our home smells.

Get yourself a nice incense burner and a few scents (BOB on 18th has a big display so you can mix & match). It lasts for hours and helps keep fabrics from getting funky.

You could use essentials oils. A few drops in a diffuser makes a room smell nice!

in a diffuser. I love peppermint, it makes the house smell so fresh. I like the citrus smells in the summer.

I am seeing some online for $59-$70, which seems okay, if it work..... I used to have the fabreeze (sp?) wall plugs...they were okay, but went kinda fast and as someone mention, not really wanting chemicals in the air.... I'd be willing to consider essential oils, as I do love them....

I believe Hedley's Health Hut has them.

Wallflowers from Bath & Bodyworks are good for a bathroom. Scentsy is great for a room- but you will need multiple if you want in each room. Ppl always comment on how good my place smells when I use my scentsy. Essential oils in diffusers are great! Not only for the scent but health benefits too. I have Young Living and it's great! Put in some Purification or Lemon or a bit of both! Or there's many other oils to try! Young living is a bit pricy but worth it.

Hi, I also have 3 kids, similar problem. I bought charcoal bags from Norwex and they are awesome! I also don't like to use chemicals around the kids, these absorb the smells instead of covering them up. All you have to do is put them in the sunlight every few months.

The wall flowers from B&B work great! Place on each floor of the house. Scentsy I find to not last very long, the ones from walmart last just as long. Have fun exploring with your favorite smells I find the maple, fruit ones linger the longest for my place.

I just put a few drops of oils on the lightbulbs in lamps to make the house smell nice.

Check Winners for diffusers - they seem to get a few in at a time and seem to sell them quickly but keep checking and you might find their prices more affordable than other stores/online options. Smitten also carries a selection of diffusers but I'm not sure of pricing there. Lots of places to get oils - Hedley's, Two Farm Kids. Smitten, to name a few or home based businesses such as Young Living.

I got a wax melt warmer (it was only like 12$ from Walmart) and instead of the scent bars - which make me sneeze with their awful synthetic scents - I melt some beeswax chips and drop essential oils into it. I haven't had to change the beeswax yet, it never seems to melt down completely. A few drops twice a day should do. I turn it off before I leave for more than 24 hours because I don't completely trust it.

Add cinnamon sticks and apple peels with 2 cups of water and 1 cap vanilla. Simmer on your stove at very low heat. Won't disappoint! Orange peels, cloves and lemon juice also make for an excellent natural scent!!

Smitten only has wax melts, but I know Bob's has a good selection of diffusers, as well as tons of oils. Diffusing essential oils is always a much better option than chemical scents.

Turn your oven to 200-250 or so. Put vanilla extract, don't waste the pure stuff, in an oven safe dish. Easiest to use a disposable dish. Let it sit in there a good couple of hours. Your house will smell like a sweet bakery and it will last all day.

you are correct! I was told Bob's had a good selection of diffusers and oils (had the correct strip mall, wrong store!).

You can buy those furnace filter scent things. I don't know what they are called but u put it it in With your furnace filter so scented air blows through the heat registers. You can find them with the furnace Filters.

These are fabulous where there are kids involved - virtually spill proof and plug into a usb port/block.  
With oils you can customize to what you need in your house

I swear by having an air sponge in my teenager's room. It cancels out the teenage funk but doesn't leave an odour behind. It smells faintly minty.  
 
I use method brand cleaning products because they have light fresh scents-but they don't linger.  
 
I am probably the wrong person to ask about these things as I feel like an abscence of smell smells cleaner than perfumes and I can't be in houses that use plug ins or wax melts and such-and when I was house hunting if I smelled plug ins I wouldn't consider even looking through an entire house because I was suspicious of what kind of issues those items were hiding (mold? carpet destroyed by dog pee that I would have to replace?) and getting an instant headache as soon as I walk into a house doesn't make me feel very welcome or comfortable.  
 
TL/dr Air Sponges are awesome.
