In Green Acres area, and just have a few questions. Any info would be great. I've dug down about 17ft with a postal auger and am in blue clay. I have water in my hole at around 9ft. just wondering if anyone knows how much more clay I am going to encounter, or if it's even worth digging still

you have 8 feet of water! you only need 3 feet above your sand point and besides you can not lift water max 25 feet and best at 20-22. stay out of the clay

I have 8 feet of water but I can't pull through the clay. It's been clay since I hit water at 9ft. Just was wondering when the clay might stop and get into the sand or is my hole a write off.

Clay forms the bed that water runs on. You should have probably quit at 9 feet. The water that is saturated in sand would have been above the clay bed, once you hit clay you may as well quit.

as Blade said, your ground water is in the sand above the clay. But before giving up I would go a few more feet and see if you do go thro the clay. Any water below the clay will be very hard water, used only for watering garden or grass.

I'm not exactly sure the depth the clay started exactly, it's been a while since I originally dug down the 9ft mark. I've been spending the last couple weekends digging up the clay so it's all been a blur. But it does make sense that I should have quit shortly after the 9ft mark. I just didn't think it was deep enough after reading and watching youtube videos and people always seemed to be talking about being 20ft. I also asked a couple of the neighbours and the one said he had a well which he figured was about 20 ft, so that was kind of my goal.

Every situation is different. In the west end around Cherry crescent you get lots of water at 14 feet, in Riverheights area some are 18 ft and some 35 ft. However if your neighbour is close like next door or so it probably is 20 feet. Does he have lots of water and will it pump all day or does it run out of water after a half hour or so, if that is the case that is not good either. Normally if you are in sand and in a stream and you bring up water in the sand in your auger that is far as you have to go. Then drive the point down so it is at least a foot below where you hit the water. Once you hit clay forget about going any further, your just wasting your time.  
 
P.S. there is different types of sand, some is good sand with water flowing through it and some is quicksand which can be a real pain and might require a 90 guage sandpoint specifically for quicksand. Good Luck.
