So I left my common law gf last year, and since than she has held my kids from me since than! No visits no calls no nothing! So I went and got a Laywer! Perfect right! Nope! The Laywer said they had filed a petition a few months ago, which my ex had only 20 days to respond! So no response in over 3 months from the other party and my Laywer is saying there is not a thing they can do except wait. Am I being screwed around? Should I seek different counsel or is this normal for a custody hearing? Like no offer for temp visits until court or anything!

Judges look at what’s become “normal” for the children during the separation. If one parent has them majority time, judge will most likely let that continue. If you want your kids, fight for them, whether that’s with a lawyer or by attempting to initiate cooperative dialogue with your ex.

I think your lawyer isn’t working for you.  
FYI- keep trying to contact your ex asking to see the kids and check in on how they are doing. Worst thing to do is not trying to make contact as she could turn around and say you abandoned them.

I have her completely blocked as she was harassing me and being constantly verbally abusive to me! So any context is made through a third party
