Ear infections and tubes

My baby's just over her 3rd ear infection and is only 11 months old. I have an appmt to have her see her family doc in 2 days, (I'm not sure that the meds have cleared this last one up). Question is, has anyone had experience with babies with recurring ear infections and have had tubes put in their ears? In a way, I'm hoping that she will recommend tubes - but not sure what to expect.
