I have read a few of those posts and CANT believe how close minded some people are. Yes I do agree that there are some people that abuse the system. What I don't agree with is when some people say that women who have kids with different men are bad mothers....THIS IS SO NOT TRUE FOR EVERYONE. My Grandma is one of "THESE WOMEN" but let me tell you something....she fell into a relationships with a string of stupid men...but she did do an AWESOME job of raising her 5 kids...yes she was on welfare for a bit back in the day (when family allowence was about $5.00 a kid), she is now into her 60's still working as a homemaker. She's also been a fostering children for over 20 years. Some of the kids even stayed until they were 18. AND NO...it was a burden on us, nor did we feel ashamed, if anything it taught us compassion, how to support and accept one another and other people.
The kids (my mom included) have all been raised GREAT. They all have jobs, 1 Teacher, 1 ECE Specialist, 1 Trucker, 1 Homemaker, 1 Admin. Assistant. SO NO, not all welfare kids repeat the cycle.
Everyone keeps talking about the mothers are bad who do this and this....daycare that...Did any of you think how school age kids feel being on welfare? A few of my friends were "welfare kids", what you don't realize is how these kids get treated in school, even at an early age. They get teased about being poor, not having nice clothes, staying home from trips cause they can't afford it.

this is a list of social assistance rates in Manitoba. Check it out for yourself, a family of 5 gets $371 for rent, which means they have to pay the rest with social assistance or child tax. A 3 bedroom house is 1000+.
So instead of complaing about the mothers, then maybe you should complain to the school board/government/whoever to have more classes in school about lifeskills, money management, whatever. Try and help the young girls growing up now instead of complaining about what they might become. I am so happy that my family taught me how to love and not judge people.....
