Overheard at a local bakery with a glass showcase full of goodies...
Mom to (approx age) a 4 year old boy.
"Go ahead, Johnnie, pick anything you want"
Boy (pointing to a certain cookie)
"I want that one!"
Mom
"You can't have that one" (Tantrum starts to arise)
Sheesh.
I thought the Mom shouldn't have said that OR say "you can pick from this one or that one".
Then little guy is still in control of what he picks and Mom is happy.
This bugs me everytime I think about it.
Sometimes it's all in the wording and it still gives the little guy a choice.
Another tantrum could have been prevented here through the use of words.
