Bed Time Battles with Toddlers

I need some help...I would appreciated some tried and true solutions to the battles of putting my almost 3 year old to bed...we have an almost hour of him getting out and me returning him to bed. I'm so frustrated and exhausted that he usually wins with either me laying with him or him crawling into bed with me. This is driving me completely crazy! Duct taping him into bed doesn't seem all too odd right about now. What worked for you moms and dads out there in ebrandon??
