posting your childs photos online

Our daughter recently had her sons finger printed and photo taken for a child find id card with the police in Calgary.
l was reading the info that came with the card with tips on how to keep your children safe..
The second thing on the list was NEVER post a picture of your child or children anywhere on the internet..
l see on this site as well as plenty of others people post photos of their children all the time..
After reading that,you wonder how safe it is ?
