I got denied my application for school of choice as well.  
 
Hope things work out for you. Try to stay positive.  
 

The problem is i live out of town and my catchment is souris i have absolutely no child care options anywhere around me (i have researched this extensivly for something that would work but there is literally nothing ) being a single parent i am the only income. I have worked hard to get a decent job that actually has decent pay. With no child care i cant keep my job...

think Rolling River School Division went all of that way towards Souris.

I live in a trailer park 10 miles south of brandon. There is no one in the park itself that is able or willing to watch her. Yes i tried to find one. I cant even use anyone else near here cause all the other kids near here are in brandon school division. The trailer park is literally an island in the catchment split. It doesn't even make sense to me... we live 10 miles from town... 10! Yet she is sent on an almost 45 min bus ride each way!

your on the dividing line for BSD and SWSD. The closest school in the RRSD would be Douglas. The buses never went south of Brandon, let alone the Brandon Hills trailer park.  
 
And I was from Douglas and went to both Douglas and Elton.  
 
What school were you trying for?

I work north west of brandon and have people more than willing to do my child care which is why i was applying to rolling river division. On top of all that my daughter has been recommended to a morning program next fall to help deal with add/adhd issues. which i completely agree she needs! But i would be responsible for transportation to regular school for the afternoons. That would be a strech to accomplish at the schools i applied to but still do-able if shes gotta go all the way to souris it becomes impossible for me.

I know when I went to Elton, we picked some students up at the Case dealership and they lived in Brandon.  
 
I'm guessing it's because of your home address being near two other divisions BSD and SWSD. What were the reasons for the declined applications?

both forrest and douglas. Had child care arragmets a few blocks from douglas school or on forrest bus route

Sorry, I'm a little confused. But I know when your doing school of choice the school division your in has to release you, so I'm assuming Souris wants all the kids they can considering there such a small school. I know that's no help to you, but you can't just be upset at the one school for not accepting you as it may be Souris not wanting to let your child leave.

I'm not too familiar with how school of choice process works exactly, but is there no option to appeal the decision or at least talk to someone within the Rolling River School Division about the decision? or have you already tried it with negative results?

The letters do not give a reason. Apparently they dont have to give one. Im not very familiar with the process either and don't even know what to do next.

I had to be released. Also souris really isnt a small school and its class sizes are as high or higher than ones in brandon. They closed a couple small town schools in that area with the promise to expand in souris of they took on the kids and that expansion still has not taken place

If you are in the trailer court south of town, why have you not considered BSD, as many kids from there are bussed to Meadows. It is BSD jurisdiction, I believe, and thus can not be refused.  
Plenty of before and after school daycare is available in Brandon.

First of all delete this thread. Trashing the school division in a public forum is not going to help your case.  
 
Research the process and understand how and why decisions are made and what your rights are. It is South West School Division that may be the reason you are being declined as they have to give your funding to Rolling River and divisions don't want to lose funding.  
 
Appeal the decision to the school board in a positive and reasonable manner. Explain your rational for the need to have your child attend a different school in a calm and diplomatic way. Being nasty towards the people you are hoping will help you (aka Rolling River School Division) is not going to help your case.

Im not hoping they will help me. I need them to but they are fully aware of my situation. I did explain it to them calmly (well actually i pleaded with them while literally bawling) its obvious they wont help. The principal of forrest school was actually told by a social worker it would be best for her to go there but still denied the application. Also i honestly don't have the time or energy to continue to battle the system. Ive been fighting this battle with these people since kindergarten and they've finally broken me. My options now are to  
A) go on welfare  
B) go back to serving (the only job ive ever found that pays more than min wage that will wprk around school hrs) which is about a 30% pay cut of what im making now and requires me to work every weekend and leaves very little "family time" ( im tired of missing EVERYTHING because i have to go to work) also made me completely miserable (not a ppl person and get anxiety in lg crowds)

Then why not apply for school of choice in Brandon? With more schools, they might be able to accommodate you better.

Work i brandon i work north west of the city. Brandon schools are notoriously difficult to get as school of choice (over crowded) and finding child care in town takes nothing short of a miracle

I could be wrong because I don't know a lot about school of choice, but i have heard from other people before that if you have work/daycare set up in a different area then your catchment they almost have to approve it. You can't be expected to quit your current job for your kid to go to school.

But both school divions are fully aware of the situation and i was still denied

Have you asked why your child has been denied and talked to the School Division(s) in question? It seems they gave no reason?  
 
I certainly would want to delve into it a bit more and speak to the SD directly or someone in charge. I would be polite and inquiring. You have a right to know.  
 
If this NorthWest of Brandon job is a good stepping stone and a good career job, is there any way you might think of relocating to a mobile home in Whiteswan, Glendale, etc. to be closer to your job and a good choice of childcare NW of Brandon?  
 
The number one glaring issue is that the place you live, you cannot physically do that school division (Souris) due to you working Northwest of Brandon.  
 
I wish you luck. You might need to dig a little deeper to have the best scenario for your work and childcare.

If i sell my home i will not have the funds to purchase another one... i do not have enough equity to pay lawyer fees and have a down payment for another one. Which would put me back to renting (renting out trailers is a no no in most parks) and completely undo everything i have worked very hard to accomplish in the last few yrs.  
Yes i will be contacting rolling river first thing monday. I only received the denial yesterday and it was after 6

Maybe you need to get an in person meeting, and speak to the principal as well as super intendant of the school division. I wouldn't give up!

I literally bawled in his office explaining the situation... it got me no where...

with the intransigence of RRSD. One of my daughters was bullied VICIOUSLY at Erickson Collegiate and it was like moving a mountain trying to get RRSD to do anything about the bullying much less about switching her to another school within the division. I finally went to the Minister of Education and lodged a complaint and we got her moved into a Brandon School because RRSD continued to be you-know-whats. Sounds like nothing has changed.  
 
Perhaps you could look up the name of the latest Minister of Education and send him/her a letter with your problem? Seems terrible that your entire life has to be brought to a halt especially when you:re working so hard to upgrade yourself.

Bin there!! you need to move I had to as well lost a good job 2 homes all for my three kids and Brandon is the best for your girl . went on welfare 10 years for them it wasn't good but they are the best kids now.you need to be in Brandon don't give up !! as for schools and there staff lol don't get me started !!!!pm me anytime on your side dear.

It was suggested to me to try shilo school... does anyone know if they take kids that arent military and anything about the prossess?
