I am looking for people's opinion on cloth diapers. Did you use them? Did you like them? Why or why not? And if you liked them, what brand did you use??

I have used cloth diapers on my son since he was two months old (he's now over a year old) and absolutely love them! I was a little nervous at first, but heard so many good things about them that I went for it... and I'm glad I did!  
 
I didn't use them for the first couple months just because it was too much washing since I was changing him constantly and I was just so tired I didn't have the energy for anything more than was absolutely necessary. BUT, since switching him, I absolutely love them! (I obviously can't say enough good things about them!)  
 
I do put my son in disposables when we're gone from home for any length of time that I can't wash the diapers (for a weekend or holidays or whatever). When he's in disposables, I find him really stinky... a problem I don't have at all in cloth. I think it's maybe the chemicals to keep them dry-ish. He has never leaked through a cloth diaper that I can remember, but it happens on occasion with the disposables. And best of all, no diaper rash!! When we were on holidays for a couple weeks and he was in disposables, he started getting a rash. Once we got home and he was back in cloth, it disappeared within about a day.  
 
I used all AMP diapers. I got them from the store in Winnipeg, but you can order online with really cheap shipping. It is expensive at first, but when talking to friends with kids in disposables, I realize how much money I saved over the long run because I never buy diapers anymore. And when I buy a few for when we're away from home, it kills me how expensive they are.

We started cloth diapering when #1 was about a year old, and we're now on #4 and never looked back!  
 
We've used a variety of diapers, depending on our needs, budget & number of kids in diapers at that time. We started with a Bummis prefold kit with a couple of Snappis, and those were my workhorse diapers for years (they are inexpensive, but need replacing after every baby in the large size as they are used so much - but they make excellent rags after!).  
 
We have had a lot of bumGenius in our stash (I still use my bumGenius with an AMP hemp insert for nights), and they wear well. Some of them I've had since baby #1, although they are showing their age now and the older ones tend to leak. My newer ones are still good.  
 
I've also used Happy Heinies and Fuzzibunz, but wasn't happy with them. I also have an AMP cover, but it doesn't fit well on my current baby, although I love the hemp inserts and have a bunch of them. I still have 3 sizes of prefolds (newborn, small & large) in my stash, but I have packed them all away in favour of the Peachy Baby ones my SIL gave me when she was done with them, after using them for 2 years.  
 
We LOVE Peachy Baby these days! Easy to use, creates the least amount of laundry of all the diapers we've used, fits great a wide variety of sizes, much better than my other ones. I wish I had found these years ago. They're made in Winnipeg by AMP, and are worth every penny.  
 
That's my experience in almost 9 years of continuous cloth diapering!

them, many years ago. I also made my own with plastic inserted inside to help keep things dryer. You will have some work involved with the cleaning of them of course but think at how much you will save....not to mention the environment. Kudos to anyone who trys. And the newer ones are so much cuter and fit better. I bet if you put out a call on ebrandon you could even find some nearly new ones.

We do a combination of cloth and disposables and we use Applecheeks. I love them! They work great and are a lot easier than many people think. Just make sure you get a good wash routine down (wash on heavy, use the right detergent, make sure there is enough agitation) and they are pretty great. The Cloth Buttique in Dauphin is a great place to contact for info on it and to buy from.

We cloth diaper our son and love them! We use Alva and kawaii and then I bought charcoal inserts for them online and for overnight I use kawaii overnights. Wish I would have cloth diapered my daughter

I recommend motherease. Lots of options Canadian made and organic available. $$$ upfront, but after use with three from newborn to potty training I could still sell them for half what I paid for them they look like they are in perfect condition and no leaks ever. You can buy online.

I am a health care professional, and have had a number of friends and many clients who have used cloth diapers. I have honestly never had anyone tell me that they didn't like them or wish that they were using cloth!

I had every intention on using them but I found they were a lot more work than I anticipated and my hands were already full with a baby and home chores. Pre soak diapers and liners then clean them then wash and dry then if there was a leak (and there were leaks) presoak and wash clothes as well. I use the cloth now and then to get her sensitive skin away from plastic but I couldn't see myself using them fulltime. I would recommend it to mommies that really want to and are willing to take the extra time and effort required.

pre soak, so just put on a shorter cycle, then a normal cycle, I put my inserts in the dryer and hang the covers.. pretty easy overall. I definitely found it overwhelming with a newborn but tried a little while later and got the hang of it.
