Looking for any information, advice and recommendations on local obgyn's, in particular Dr.Helms and Dr. Akintola

We saw Dr. Helms today he seems very nice, though, confident.  
 
I am not sure you get to choose. I believe it is based on who has the most spots open. But I could be wrong.  
 
Also please know that your ob may not be the one who will attend the actual delivery.  
 

All the way!!! We had our first baby last week and I had him for over half my pregnancy. Amazing doctor and very knowledgeable. Although I can't speak for the other OB/GYN's but I highly recommend Dr. Helms. Was super worried he would not be on call come delivery day but he was and I was super thrilled. He made me feel comfortable and at ease. Some have said he comes across as rude, but I never saw that side of him. Will definitely have him for my next pregnancy. Really glad I decided to go with him and yes I was able to choose which doc I want. Good luck with your decision. : )

I had Dr. Helms and thought he was great. He is very straightforward and helpful. We discussed all my options. When I was in labour he had a great attitude, very positive. I definitely will go back and I recommend him to anyone!

As a health care professional, I can tell you that all of the OBGyn's in Brandon area excellent. They have different styles, but are all very good at what they do.  
Are you looking for prenatal care? When you go into labor, you will be attended by whoever is on call, not necessarily who you saw during your pregnancy.

They all have good and bad about them...just depends on your personality. For me, I would always choose Helms.

I was with Helms for my entire pregnancy and I really liked him, he's very upfront and blunt lol and I like that. For my delivery I ended up having Dr. Akintola and he was great! I will probably choose Akintola next time based on his bedside manner but I would recommend both doctors.

I had Dr. shunmagan for my whole pregnancy. He is by far the nicest, most kind man I have ever met. I highly recommend him.

I love Dr Helms I had 3 extremely high risk pregnancies. And in that time I seen 4 different OBs ( Dr Helms was my main OB but I had a lot of trips to L&D and got who was on call) they were all so great and I believe they are all extremely educated. However Dr Helms was my favourite he have me great care, he answered all my questions and helped keep me positive. Dr Shummigain (sp?) delivered my 3rd child and he was wonderful! I think you will receive great care from all the OBs in Brandon good luck
