OK, so maybe not literally but it sure seems like it lately. My little guy is 14 months and although he has never been a fantastic sleeper it seems in the last month and a bit he wakes up 4-5 times a night and some nights he is awake more than he sleeps! I feel like a walking zombie some days. I have an active 3 year old and not sleeping through the night is taking a toll on my day-to-day, I am losing energy to even want to run around the park with my kids.  
I know he had 4 teeth all come in at the same time but they've been broken through for a while now so I don't know if I can still blame it on teething?!  
He has a nap daily, usually lasts an hour or more, goes to bed fine but after midnight it's an ongoing battle to try and keep him sleeping. He won't settle unless he is nursed (I am still nursing because he has never taken a bottle or sippy cup) we've tried letting him cry it out but he's stubborn and it doesn't work. He spends most of his night sleeping - when he does - in a Fisher price rocking chair. Some nights my husband and I take turns rocking it but once it stops he's awake again. I feel like I have tried almost everything I know to possibly get him to sleep.. And now I am looking for suggestions or help. Any other moms been through this? Tell me it gets better

It does get better.  
For a long time my daughter wouldn't sleep unless she was held. I just finally made a baby sling (baby carrier would work), strapped her to me and slept in a recliner. Lol. But at least I finally got some sleep.  
Another tactic I have used is to let my baby stay up later. I used to put her to bed at 9:30 and then she would sleep until 4:00. I would spoon feed her pablum or a large jar of baby food with meat in it just before bed. If I didn't, then she would wake every 2-3 hours for food. With a heavier meal, she would sleep 6.5 hrs.  
I also had to play with her hardcore before bed. Every high energy game that people tell you not to do "because you will wind the child up." Reality is that some kids need to be worn out with laughter, hugs, tickles and kisses, belly blowing, funny faces, peak-a-boo, dancing with mommy in the kitchen, hide-and-seek, chasing, story books, and dancing teddy bears.  
It sounds like a lot, but it really only takes about 15 minutes of high activity. Save the story book for last and if possible, stay visible until the child is asleep.  
When I finally got my daughter to sleep in a crib again, I moved a comfy chair into the hallway and read a book until she fell asleep. Leave the door partially closed and don't look at the child too much. If they cry, comfort them, kiss them, cover them up and go back to your chair where you can be seen.  
 
Those are my suggestions. I hope they work for you as well as they did for me.

For what it's worth, our son was like that until we found out he had an ear infection. The sucking and the rocking (being snuggled to your chest) gave him temporary relief. As soon as those stopped, he would wake up crying. He was put on antibiotics several times by walk in doctors with no relief until I finally got to see our own doctor who said he should have been on antibiotics no less than 21 days.

Both my sons woke frequently until I weaned (around age 2). We moved him from our bed to their own double bed so I could cosleep comfortable with them the second half of the night when they woke (for us 2-6am). While they still woke up, I felt more rested being able to roll over and nurse. Both sleep fine by themselves now.

You could try shortening or cutting out his nap...easier said than done. This too shall pass....hang in there!

I know its not for everyone but chiropractic care can be very very calming to our nervous systems. I use it to help my children who are ADHD. Calm and sleepy  
I can send you the name and number of a great one in Wpg if you are interested? He is a master in chiropractic care and has adjusted my children with huge results for several issues...even when they were babies.  
It was and still is miraculous! hehe

Like I posted before he has been "teething" so would he have different symptoms if he did have an ear infection?  
 
I have never really heard of chiropractic care for infant/toddlers. What exactly would that do, how would it affect their sleep?  
 
I do co-sleep when needed I just prefer not to. Mostly because I can't sleep well. Hubby takes us most of the bed and he takes up the rest so it's not easy to sleep while balanced on the edge of the bed.

Our son was much the same way until we found out he needed tubes in his ears. The pressure in his ears was waking him up. Once the tubes went in he slept through the night, but until then we struggled for almost a year.  
I'm not a doctor, but it might be worth looking into it.  

Chiropractors can asses you child for many many different things. For example up until my son was 6 weeks old he had a lot of trouble breast feeding on one side. I always thought it was my milk supply or something wrong with me...never did i think something might be wrong with such a new baby! I mentioned it to my chiropractor (not that i thought he could do anything) but he said he could help. So i handed him over to him and he did a very gentle adjustment on him and handed him back. He said "now try". So i did right then and there and like magic he had NO problems to feed on that side from that point on.  
 
I care for kids with ADHD as well. They get adjusted regularly. These kids don't nap and are always very high strung. Every time we leave the chiropractor they are sleeping in the car within a few minutes. Blisssss  
 
I myself feel like i have just had a huge massage even though it was only a 2 min adjustment. hehe

I have never seen any chiropractors in Brandon so i can not comment on the ones here only that Dr.Dan is a master of chiropractic care and none of the chiro's from Brandon are masters. Therefor i put my trust in Dr.Dan with my care and the care of my children. He has never let me down.  
 
If you call him he would be happy to answer any of your questions about adjusting children. He is very knowledgable. It would be great to get baby assessed regardless I think! :D

My son didn't sleep through the night until he was completely weaned off the bottle at 15 months. I'm not going to discourage you to nurse, but yours might not STTN until you wean as well. Also an hour of day time sleep doesn't seem like a lot for a 14 month old. Is it possible, he's over tired? My son is 2.5 and still sleeps 2-3 hours day time sleep and 10-11 at night. I wish I had a magic wand with some magic solution but I don't. I remember being very run down by that point. My son got up every couple hours until he was 15 months and it was still a hit and miss until he was 2 and even now he still gets up every once in a while. Hang in there!!

Hi there just like many parents out there we dont want to use a drug to help our kids but I know of many friends with this same problem and the us melintona sleep aid it's all natural its what our bodys make and some ppl just dont make enough maybe try that and see if it helps and good luck ps dont give up

I've gone through that with all my kids. We did similar to dueindecember. None of my kids slept through the night until weaned, sometime between 14m & 2.5y depending on the kid.  
 
My 11.5 month old is very restless after midnight right now, but she's going through so many developmental milestones lately (walking, talking, etc) and that seems to disrupt sleep a lot in my experience. She's only napping about 1 hour on a good day, the past 2 days it's only been 15 minutes before she wakes up and I can't resettle her, she's too raring to go.  
 
As for napping, follow their cues. Some of mine were done napping completely by 18 months. Some still napped at 3. I just depends on the child.

I wouldn't do that to such a young child, and only under the advice of a physician. We use melantonin occasionally with my 9-year-old Autistic daughter to help with sleep (she has lots of neurological and self-regulation problems), but it's not good to make it a regular thing as they can build resistance to it. Plus, it give them weird dreams.  
 
Young children wake for lots of reasons. We wake too, but don't remember it. The "traditional" way for humans to sleep is actually to sleep in 2 large chunks, first sleep and second sleep. Back before electricity/artificial lighting, you'd go to sleep at nightfall, but usually wake up around midnight and be up for an hour or two, then sleep the rest of the night until dawn. We've messed that up with artificial lighting, staying up much later and insisting to sleep right through.  
 
Sometimes I think young children try to naturally revert to this schedule.

We have been going through that. However today seems to be different. She's down for her second nap already! But yes. Waking 4 times a night, yet falling asleep when we pick her up.
