Hello! I'm a new mom and my munchkin is only a month old but I wondering if anyone knows of any mother baby groups. I've emailed Stacy Dittmer about when her fitness classes starts and waiting for a reply but I would really like to meet other moms in the area. Let me know!

There is a healthy baby class that is every 2nd Tuesday. It is put on by public health nurses. They cover a variety of topics and the babies get to roll around on mats. The next meeting is March 14th at 327 8th st. (Central United Church). They have two classes one at 10 and the other at 1, and they are about 2 hours each. I quite enjoy them

I really enjoyed bringing my little guy to Family Circle at Elspeth Reid. Also, La Leche League meets the second Monday evening of every month at Knox United Church. It's a great place to meet other nursing moms.

Does anyone know if you have to register for the healthy baby class or just show up? Also do you have to stay the full 2 hours. Both times they run are nap times!! Not sure how that would work for us but I would like to go.  
 
There is a mommy and me aqua fit at the sportsplex. Not sure how old baby has to be. I've never attended it. I believe it's Thursday mornings at 10am.  
 
There is also a babies n beats class. You can look up on Facebook. Roads to Rhythm music therapy. They have different classes for different ages.

Anyone know what ages babies should be before attending some of these programs? Particularly the La Leche League meetings? I want to get out of the house so so so bad but worried my little guy is too young

LLL is good for all ages of baby! I think we went when my little guy was about 2 weeks old or so, and I've seen day old babies there, as well as some moms who are still nursing toddlers. It's awesome if you have questions about breastfeeding, too.  
Join their facebook group, also, that way if you have questions before the next meeting you can ask there!

What sort of stuff do they talk about at the meetings?

You just show up. Most stay for the 2 hours, but you don't have to.  
 
Again, they cover a wide variety of topics.

This sounds interesting, anything to get me out of the house. I'll try to make it to the next one.

If you call public Health and ask them about the healthy baby class they can put you on an email system that will remind you of the upcoming classes. I have yet to make one but hope to get to the next!!!!

It's been many years since I've been to LLL, but from what I remember it rotates on a 4-talk cycle, so every 4th meeting a topic is revisited (although it's rarely the same twice). It talks about them here: http://www.llli.org/faq/lll.html  
 
Also, there's no age limit for attending as long as you're breastfeeding or are interested in learning about breastfeeding! That means that even expectant mothers wanting to learn about breastfeeding can attend while pregnant. I found it extremely useful in my early years to see other women nursing babies at different stages - newborns, older babies, toddlers - and to hear about their experiences.
