PORK BELLY FUTURES Live, Saturday 5 May
4/30/2007 at 11:05 PM
I am reposting this from an email Michael Cox sent me. During our photo walk he was nice enough to invite us into this wonderful space and show us around. They have some great concerts but admit that getting the word out is sometimes hard so if you want to be on their mailing list for some great live music email him at the address below.
Saturday, May 5th here at the Music Studio 940 Rosser Avenue (at 10th)
Paul Quarrington (author, singer song writer, and guitarist), Stuart Laughton (original and once again trumpet with the Canadian Brass now playing guitar and harmonica), Martin Worthy (drums, rhythm guitar, and background vocals), and electric bassist Chas Elliott (formerly with a little group called the Toronto Symphony Orchestra) are PORK BELLY FUTURES. Joined by vocalist Rebecca Campbell and Brandon authors Di Brandt and Laurie Block, Pork Belly Futures will begin the show with readings from the works of Paul, Di, and Laurie followed by music that is a mix of jazz and blues with a country edge.
There will be two shows (7 PM and 9:30 PM) - tickets are $20 and can be reserved by leaving a message at 728-7993 or by email to Michael at mjcox@mts.net or at the door.
You can hear an interview with Paul Quarrington tomorrow morning at about 7:45 AM on CBC radio one (990 AM, 97.9 FM). You can also here music clips from the Pork Belly's first CD at www.porkbellys.com
