So there seems to be a little confusion so here are the easy facts.
- You get paid for what ever hours you worked prior to leaving.
- You can quit with no notice, however, you will only get paid for the hours you worked.
- The company is required to pay you vacation pay.
- If your leaving without giving any notice, please be aware that in the future if anyone calls for a reference, this may be discussed.
- It is always better to give notice, than just quit.
- If you give notice, but do not show up for work, you will not get paid.
- If you give two weeks notice, but are told to leave immediately, you are owed for the hours you were scheduled.
- If no schedule was made up, you technically did not have hours, so you would not receive money, even though you gave notice.
If you are fired, the company needs to either pay you out or they can make you work the time. The length of time required is dependent on how long you worked for.
If you are fired, and you are required to work out your time, you don''t have to show up for your shifts, however, you would then not be paid for those shifts. You would only be paid for the hours you worked.
As mentioned above, just cause makes a difference. You can be fired and simply told to leave.
If you have questions, call the MB labour standards.
They will give the facts for your situation.
