looking for a tried and true recipe

i want to make butter tarts this year, but have never made them before. I want yummilicious :D lol. i found one recipe that calls for cream, is this right?
Id like easy, but melt in your mouth good too lol.
also, if anyone has a really good shortbread i wouldnt mind trying out a new one of those. my recipe is good, but id like better lol.
