Boxing Day - Why?
12/26/2010 at 10:06 AM
I have to throw this out here. In the states, they have Black Friday the day after Thanksgiving which is the start of the Christmas Season. It is their biggest shopping day of the year. The day's retail success cannot be disputed since many Canadian businesses are starting to offer sales on Black Friday as well. It is a commercial success.
In Canada, we have Boxing Day sales. Other than people buying stuff with money they received for Christmas, I gotta ask why?
Does it make sense to have these big "blowout" sales when everyone will, by and large, be done their Christmas Shopping?
The absolute last thing I feel like doing on Boxing Day is lining up to go shopping.
Anyone?! Am I nuts?
What is the big deal? Why is it even popular? It makes no sense to me.
