has always been better geared towards very young kids, but there are still some more adult games to avoid. Here are a couple links to a list of nintendo switch kid friendly games

A Nintendo Wii U (not Wii, there are two. Wii is way older)  
would work too. Cheaper and more games to choose from. The Switch just came out and therefore the gamelist is relatively short and the console is more expensive.

For the edit. I didnt realize what i did until afterwords. And yea he has a wii but doesnt use it to much anymore. He likes the lego games and minecraft.

Has one that we purchased first week they were available. He has played it for about eight hours total! No minecraft available for Switch yet but there are 3 Lego games to choose from. Graphics are great and it is very versatile, Santa is bringing our son a couple of new games for it this Xmas so maybe it will used more. I think it’s a great system but as mentioned previously not many games to choose from yet.

Thanks for the info, i was at EB games last week when we took his xbox one in as a trade kinda deal. They had about 30 games on the shelf for the switch And minecraft was one of them. I just took a quick look online and there are about a dozen more games coming out in January..

Limited title selection  
-Nintendo has a limited title selection as is, even more so with the switch. If you buying Nintendo I hope you like the 1st party games  
 
New consoles are buggy  
-with the switch being released in March, there are going to be bugs with the software, as well with 1 st generation consoles, the hardware can be buggy too! Doesn't matter which company the console comes from there are going to be bugs.  
 
But since its for a four year old, Nintendo is the way to go as the do make there games geared toward a PG audience with most of there first party games. If you can find a Wii U or even a good used Wii would be good.

My 4 year old likes playing on our Super Nintendo.. unless you really want a Nintendo switch then a Snes is a lot cheaper and you don't have to spend $50-70 + on a game if you don't want.

I could find a super nintendo i would buy that right away. I use to love playing that when i was younger. Especially the donkey kong games. They were awesome lol. Yea we purchased the switch so im sure he will be happy with it.

I love my switch. The Zelda game could win game of the year it's so good. And Mario oddesy is great as well. I'm thinking of buying doom also

The Nintendo Switch is very new and not lot of games out yet. It is quite expensive and coming from experience with other members of my family it can get damaged or scratch easily with a 4 yr old handling it. If you want get a gaming system for a 4 yr old start them with a system made for younger children in mind like a New 2DS. There are many games in the library since play a huge library of 3ds and ds games and is portable built to last. Get the Switch for the kid when they get a little older...

This kid already had the 3ds he had a old gameboy lol. He has had an ipad since he was 3 and it is still living without a crack in the screen. And its not like he doesnt use it. He watches netflix and plays games on it all the time, therefore im  
Not to worried about it being damaged.

My kids have a wii u. They play primarily minecraft on it. They do have other games including the lego one. They are happy with it. We find more of a selection at toys r us in Winnipeg. But who knows how long thatvwill last lol.
