Tailgating
5/11/2010 at 2:54 PM
In honour of the Memorial Cup, I think Wheat Kings fans should congregate on the Keystone grounds for a little tailgating before Friday’s game.
Now before people get their knickers in a knot, while living in Raleigh, NC I got first hand experience with hockey tailgating and let me be the first to say that it is family friendly tailgating. I describe tailgating at Canes games as 10-80-10. 10% are there getting drunk (but never to rowdy), 10% having a BBQ with no liquor and the bulk (80%) who are having a BBQ that does include alcohol.
No matter what the percentile grouping, everyone is having a good time and most people are playing street hockey or tossing a football: no different than an afternoon at Dinsdale Park. Heck the Canes themselves support tailgating by hosting kid’s games and face painting. The local sports radio show broadcast live from parking lot. Even injured players are often seen mingling around.
I can only ask that BPS be human for once and allow some responsible adult fun to take place.
Come one, come all and let’s have some fun supporting our Wheat Kings! I’ll be there around 3 if you want to stop for a beer and a dog.
