Taxi companies shut out of Memorial cup benefits
5/18/2010 at 12:15 PM
The city is always complaining about how businesses need events to survive. But each time there is an event, Taxi companies are shut out. This year the Memorial cup got 110 shuttle buses with volunteers for the event. This has been extremely damaging for the Taxi industry. Why take a cab when you can ride for free. Taxi drivers are people that have to feed their families too Mr. mayor.
Another event that say this was the Winter Carnival, I am a taxi driver, and say my earnings cut in half this year due to free shuttle buses. Is there somebody at the city who hates taxi companies? Or event benefits geared to specific companies. Are Taxi companies on the City's black list? More thought and planning should go into these events.
