Our family has finally made the decision that we will be homeschooling our son. Our son has Asperger's Syndrome and is in Grade 1. We have struggled since spring to have his school and the BSD prepare for him entering Grade 1 and were ignored. Well, when school started in September, we have experienced multiple extreme events, emergency meetings, meltdowns and countless daily episodes of him shattering to pieces and then Mom's heart breaking. Despite the presence of several very considerate, well-intended and dedicated members on his learning team, certain events have happened that I believe have made the choice to homeschool him .... the best choice for the time being. The stress of all of this experience has began to take an immense toll on my own health as well.
So, I have posted an ad on eBrandon:

I hope to get him seriously involved in the preparation of "his learning area".
....and will now have to switch gears to figure this process out. It is a devestating turn of events to our family's finances and goals .... but ultimately, we need to consider everyone health and well-being as well. I have been in contact with the Homeschool Liason, researched various Autism/Asperger oriented curriculum's, consulted with professionals and am in the process of "rebooting" our family.
Any tips or helpful links? (Please refrain from judging our choice as this was an intense decision that our family has made with our personal needs and dynamics considered.)
