All the people that thought Justin would legalize cannabis and voted for him didn't stop to think what else he would do.  
Trudeau changed government spending from millions to billions overnight. Now we have to pay for it. You should be worried about what comes next.

I am not signing because I am curious where the tax is going.  
 
Also, people who vote any party often don't stop to think of what else they will do. There are far more automatic conservative voters than there are Trudeau supporters.

Every bottle, glass or mug of beer purchased......50% of price goes right to government.

Axe the Beer Tax is a campaign by the massive International owned breweries. The small Canadian owned craft breweries are saying that the tax increase is almost non existent to them.  
 
Support Manitoban breweries that use Manitoban ingredients and employ Manitobans instead of a company from Belgium/US that has its closest brewery in Edmonton or Vancouver

What if I think that the tax isn't high enough? Is there a petition for that?

Right off the top, I'm one that enjoys a cold beer from time to time, sometimes more than one.  
 
When it come to taxation I'm one that feels alcohol and tobacco is a good place to draw tax revenue from. Both are luxuries and as such the consumer has complete control (or should have) over how much they contribute. As far as how large an increase in cost of a case of beer this tax is going to bring, if my take on things is correct it would be 2040 before a case of 24 is more than $1.00 more than it is now.  
 
We need to pick our battles. If we want to be up in arms over what our government is doing, let's show our outrage over blatant runaway spending rather than a minuscule tax on a luxury.

You better do the math, don’t forget with annual increases they compound, at 1.5% yearly increase that $25 case of beer is up to about $29 after 10 years. I don’t even drink much beer but hate excessive taxing.

Liquor stores have been expanding the hours they are open, now open on Sundays, Christmas Eve, Boxing Day, the government has allowed delivery, allowed to drink in public spots like hair salons and movie theatres. Going the opposite direction of tobacco... starting wage at the LC is in and around $16.25 an hour, tax another nesessity.  
liquor goes hand in hand with gasoline, milk, property tax, natural gas... or wait, does it? we need it.. lol. of course our gov is going to tax it. There's more coming. the gov knows alcohol is poison, it's highly addictive, even the ones who can't afford it and have a major problem are still going to pay the extra tax. Brew your own beer or wine at home if your going to cry about a tax increase on something that intoxifies and kills. Take smoking cigarettes off of public patios but let's show the youth that alcohol is such a positive aspect in life and the gov wants you to know it because they have went the distances to allow it to be so readily and easily available. Go buy your alcohol across the line (in the u.s) if it's going to be that bad. The subject we are on, kills. Ruins, destroys. They can tax it 150%. Maybe it's for the better and it will financially deter those away who shouldn't be using it. it sucks but after a few I'm sure you will get over it, I'd prepare for an even bigger tax increase on liquor as a whole in time.

posters are correct about the taxation and it is just Beer Canada fear mongering, so be it.  
 
what I do find alarming though is for the Gov't decision to tie taxation to the CPI or anything like it. which is basically what they have done.  
 
It is the concept of tieing a tax, any tax to an automatic increase year after year that just appears wrong.  
 
how many other forms of tax increase on products go up every year without end.  
 
gas and fuel tax? GST? provincial tax? where does a government stop. When they get unelected, but how many times do you see the new govt roll back a previous tax increase or wage increase for those involved. Never.

Actually, if anything, it's business as usual for socialism...quite the opposite.

only one that suffers is either the big companies, or alcoholics.  
 
For those that drink time to time. I do not see a big deal.  
 
IMO cigarettes should be taxed like no tomorrow.  
 
It's a lifestyle and choice by the person. Both can kill you in multiple ways.

Why can taxes escalate but pensions never are raised ?

This is not a program that is easily changed. Those other brackets can be adjusted and dropped by a Federal worker or department at the drop of a hat. This one would need to go to the senate and House to change. That is how important it was for them.  
It would be no different a escalator raise for our politicians. Once done only they can change. No Federal Department. We do not need any tax with a built in increase for life. Takes the thinking and having to justify the reason out of it.
