There is a 2 year program legal assistants can take. While some legal assistants don’t have the formal schooling others do. The schooling legal assistants take is pretty much the equivalent as a paralegal in Alberta or Ontario. And in Winnipeg they do have actual paralegals at larger firms then they have assistants then Secretaries. If you know how to do the documents why not prepare yourself and save cost? The court forms are pretty easy to folllw and lots of people do file on their own. If it’s a complicated family issue I’d suggest getting a lawyer however.
