Iron leaving yellow marks

My iron is leaving yellow marks on clothing and has stuff coming out of the holes (I will try attaching a picture), especially at lower temperatures. I've never had an iron do this before. I iron quite a bit and my irons have always just quit in the past.

Is there a way to clean it? Or am I better off just getting a new one?

Vinegar and water.

White Vinegar: Clean the inside of a steam iron by pouring white vinegar, or equal parts of vinegar and water in the water reservoir until it is one-third full. Turn it on (medium-high heat setting) and let it steam for about 5-10 minutes so that all the vinegar evaporates.

It could be from Sunscreen

Not sure if this is related but if you use sunscreen with Avobenzone (most sunscreens have it). It can react with the iron in your water and leave a nasty mark on clothing similar to a rust Mark. Most often you would see it mostly around the collar. We have ruined a lot of shirts with this.

Don't think that's what she means. It's her iron that is leaving the marks. Not the iron in the water
