I was wondering if anyone has received this in the mail yet? Thank you

I think you have to pay your taxes first, which of course were $175.00 more. Hopefully we get that amount back at least.  
I wonder if we will be getting the full amount of the school taxes back eventually??

…is that we get 25% back this year and 50% next year. I haven’t received mine yet but it says they will be out before property taxes are due.

We noticed on our tax bill this year that the usual property tax credit thing on there (which used to be $750 I think) was down to 500-something. So are we actually getting a rebate, or are they just shuffling money around?  
 
It seems disingenuous to say we're getting money back if in fact it's money we usually get as a credit anyway.

I noticed the same on our property tax bill as well. But we are apparently to get a check in the mail before the end of June with the 25% rebate on it. Guess we will actually see!

Abbysmum you nailed it - this is just shuffling money around. Great way to buy votes is to send people a cheque in the mail. Yay we got money back. But has anyone stopped to think about where we will end up paying more to make up for this rebate?  
 
The money is still going to be needed - and don’t say Bill 64 is going to filter money better, because it won’t.  
 
So enjoy your rebate, but don’t let it lead you into thinking you’re saving money because you really won’t be - we will all pay for this in some other way.

is the first time they are doing this i have never received one other yrs.

I contacted our MLA's office on Monday about the lack of appearance of them....The reply came Wednesday that they had been mailed out....they were supposed to be out before property tax notices....yup...that didn't happen and still not here....in southwestern corner of the province....

For those who got theirs, and are in a relationship, did the rebate come under your name, or your spouses?  
 
Reason I ask, is I am the main account holder for everything with our house. I am the primary on mortgage, house insurance, etc, but the rebate came under my boyfriends name, my name nowhere on it.  
 
My mother got hers, and it is under her ex's name, and they are separated and he has not lived in the house for 2 years now. Luckily my bf and I are together, so no difference to us, but how would my mom get the check into her name? Her ex isnt paying anything towards the house.  
 
And is there issues with putting female names on cheques? Lol, sorry just bugged me that I am the primary and the secondary got the cheque!

Why would they be out before property tax bills? They were just supposed to be out by the property tax due date of the end of June, to my knowledge. It says right on the govt website “they will automatically mail cheques before the municipal property tax due date.” They weren’t supposed to be out before the tax bill came. They just hit Brandon today, so I’m sure they will hit other areas next week.  
 
And for name, yes ours was weird too. Bills are all in my name, including the city, but the cheque came only in my husbands name. But we are happy for the cheque regardless.

For all you nay Sayers out there, you know who you are. The people, when someone says "Good Morning", your response is "what are you the weatherman". Any way, its money from the government. Take it and be happy. I had $125 less of a tax credit this year, but got a check from the Pallister government for $333. Before it was just a tax credit. This is cash in hand so be happy and spend it wisely.  
As for who gets the check, Have a look at your property tax bill. Our check was in my wife's name and her name appears first on the property tax bill.

Why the,amount of cheques are varies. I always though the part of school tax is around $750 or so, and is the same for all properties, regardless of the total amount of property tax. So should not amount of cheque be 25 percent of that and same for each house you own?

The credit used to be $700, they reduced it by 25%, so it’s now $525. The cheque you receive is 25% of your properties school tax levy, so everyone will receive different amounts

It came in my husband's name and we are everything joint. We own our place in full. I was kinda surprised but I was able to deposit as we share all bank accounts too

This has my spidey senses up as well. The school board is always asking for more money and now they're taking $228m away from them? Seems very strange.

Or probably because the books say they've been saving so much money cause schools were closed during covid that they can tax cut. Eventually this will bite us in the butt when things get back to normal and school board asks for more money

So there property tax credit on our tax bill, and we also receive an additional tax credit?

Pallister had stated in a media release that they would be out prior to property tax issuing....a 25% rebate in the form as a check and a further 25% credit on our this years taxes and further credit next year....

I haven't received ours yet but I wonder if it makes a difference on whether or not both names are on the title.....I know our house is registered with land titles in both our names....property taxes always come in both our names.....just curious....

Our cheque came just in my boyfriend’s name even though we are both on the title. His name is first on our property taxes so that could be how they did it.

Also came in just my husbands name even though we are both on the house..
