Anyone know anything about an accident by Elie tonight?

Due to the ice on hwy #1 conditions are very bad. I was told there was a pile up there involving 3 semis; The report was not clear on whether or not any other vehicles were involved.

I drove through freezing rain between Elie and Portage around 5pm. I didn't see any accidents but considering how hard it was raining I'm not surprised. This is my windshield when I got home...

At that time you would have been through the accident area before it happened. About 9 or so last night people were reporting that westbound traffic was at a standstill, some said they had been sitting for over 2 hours. There were lots of emergency vehicles and a long string of cars waiting.

I drove Hwy 2 out of Winnipeg yesterday, left at about 430pm. Drove into a wall of freezing ice (I swear it wasn't just freezing rain, which comes down as rain and then freezes, it was like ice falling and sticking to everything). It stopped at the Elm Creek turn off. Traffic was doing about 60km/hr, and I had my Jeep in 4 wheel drive. Saw two cars in the ditch, and I'm sure there would have been more in time.
