Probably nothing more than training for pilots. Shilo base is not far so I would imagine that would be the reason military hardware is soaring over our skies.

knew Shilo did Air training. That actually is a surprise.

So what kind of fighter jet was it? Did any one see it, I only heard it.

Probably an Alpha Jet. They've been doing training out on the range all week. Forward Air Controller training if I'm not mistaken

Plus add in the CC-130 Hercules aircraft that do training at the airport including SAR Techs parachuting. There's also aircraft that come from Southport for training.

Cannot land jets in Shilo, so they may be doing traingig, but the jets may be coming from Winnipeg.

really just loitering over Brandon till they are called into the Shilo training area by the Joint Tactical Air Controllers. The pilots in these jets are former Canadian Forces CF-18 pilots.

Happens fairly often. I don't think it is air training as in air to air combat training, but more air support training for the troops on the ground.  
 
They were doing it one day when we were golfing out there this summer, pretty neat to see. Tried to blame a poor round on that, but no one was having it haha!!

My boys and their friends can running inside yelling, "Mom!!!! There was a fighter plane right over our house!!! It was AWESOME!!"  
They really enjoy getting a chance to see these up close

Every now and then they like to do search and rescue training over Riding Mountain.  
 
Living up in Churchill, they liked to train over Hudson Bay and the airport there can handle any aeroplane as it is an international airport. Yes, you read that right, Churchill Manitoba is an international airport.  
 
Lived in Belleville ON, just the other side of Trenton Air Force Base. Fighter jets screaming overhead. Freaking huge cargo planes that just seemed to hang in the air.
