Stylists Worst Nightmare
9/22/2017 at 4:33 PM
I hear ya girl. Been there. I have thick curly hair. Not ringlets, and more than wavy. I'm curly from the roots to the tip regardless of how long my hair is (it's always boob length or longer, it seems the shorter it is the pouffier it gets) anyways, after wasting hundreds of dollars on professional products, I now use dippity do gel, the blue bottle (I think it's #9), tresemme mousse for curls and finesse spray.
Aerosol spray makes curly hair frizzy, so a sprits spray is a must.
I towel dry my hair, and then I apply the gel to ALL my hair. With my hair upside down I part it horizontally with my hands and work the gel in from route to tip in both sections I created. Next, I do the exact same thing with the mouse. Then I wrap my hair back in a towel and finish getting ready. Take my hair out of the towel, hair upside down, and spray with my $2 finesse spray! I use tresseme shampoo and conditioner, the blue stuff and wash my hair daily. I dunno about you, but I have to wash my hair every day. My hair isn't crunchy and my curls are defined.
I used to get product build up every once in a while, haven't now for years, and only once did I find a clarifying shampoo that worked. Then it was discountinued, of course. a few hundred dollars later and a bunch of bottles of clarifying shampoos that didn't work, I discovered Palmolive dish soap. Original, the green stuff. I don't colour my hair so it works perfect. Apparently, it'll strip the colour from your hair if it is coloured.
I cut my hair once a year, I don't own a blow dryer (also makes curly hair frizzy) and I don't have a hair straightener, my arms aren't long enough even if I tried.
I'm a hair stylists worst nightmare. But I've found what works for me.
Hopefully this helps you on your search!
