On Monday the planet Mercury will crossing the face of the Sun. It will be visible from Sunrise till after 2 pm. The Brandon University Astronomical Observatory will be having viewing of the transit through their solar telescopes. The big 16' telescope won't be used, but smaller 8' telescopes. The next time this event will happen will be in Nov. 2019! At least it's more regular the Transits of Venus, the next time that one will occur will be 2117!! Yes, just over 100 years from now.

went great. The smokey haze didn't affect the viewing. It may have helped. The International Space Station also made a pass across the Sun. I had to run up to Forrest to catch it. Just missed having the ISS also pass over Mercury. I setup at the Riverbank Discovery Centre and had a good turnout. I took many pictures of the Transit.
