Not hard enough

it does seem not enough for the loss of two lives but i am thinking that talking at schools about her crash will have a huge impact on her and hopefully other students as she can tell the story from a young persons perspective who probably thought nothing would happen, she has a long life a head of her to live with the guilt so i do hope this sentence impacts her in a positive life changing way so she can become a productive citizen

A discussion about someone's texting having killed a father and daughter has brought two whole responses....  
 
Why?  
 
Hmmm.... Maybe because..........EVERYONE'S TEXTING.  
 
People walking are texting, people sitting are texting, people supposed to be working are texting, people eating are texting, people supposed to be caring for their children are texting, people DRIVING are texting. And you know what? I actually find it pretty unbelievable that there aren't more fatalities, yearly, from people driving and texting.  
 
I fully understand that this is the way of the world and it is great for a lot of reasons, but there will be plenty of suffering of innocent families because someone had to send a text - someone who is irresponsible, self-absorbed, immature and oblivious.  
 
Texting - a waste of precious life time that you can never get back.  
 
Texting and driving causing fatalities = a terrible waste of precious life, period.  
 

not just a 1 week bubble once in while.  
It is time the penality reflected how serious the issue of texting and driving is. It should be treated the same as an impaired driving would be.  
There would still be some that would be on their phone, but at least there would less of them on the road.

Some of us won't put that many people in danger - steal the company's time - or be rude to those around us, just to be connected 24/7 with no exceptions.  
 
I expect the reason that so few respond to this topic is because it's an epidemic that those with the power don't really care to cure.  
 
I agree that texting and driving should be treated like impaired driving with similar penalties and rehab programs.
