Old green transit drivers
6/9/2021 at 4:04 PM
I am 73 now and a couple of bus rides I got today got me thinking of the old days in the 1950's and '60's.
I remember the drivers changing shifts and carrying their name card to slip in the slot at the front of the bus. Proud to drive you! Everybody knew his name and although they never knew mine as a kid, they welcomed me with a smile and a 'hello' or the like.
I thought of how friendly Brandon has changed by riding the bus twice today - for the worse.
The first was at 11:39 being picked up at the Shoppers mall. The no name, no talk driver hit the gas as I was walking to a seat and smashed my tail bone between two seats as I fell.
Returning from Wal-Mart at 2:39 carrying 54 pounds of groceries in a Co-op bag, a cloth bag and a back pack with an umbrella I tried to make it to the very first seat but the mute driver hit the gas and smashed me and my groceries into the seat hurting my shoulder. I waited for a laugh!!!
I tried to find a City of Brandon site to tell how our Indy 500 transit workers compare to gentlemen of yesteryear but who wants complaints?
Neither them or here I am afraid!
City of Brandon : teach civility and friendliness!!!! You are not the boss, we are!!
