My column in today's Winnipeg Free Press is the story of the short-lived Brandon Street Railway that was shut down 85 years ago today.

We don't have one either, but we were able to read it. I don't think the Freep paywall kicks in until a certain number of page views per month.

Thanks for sharing the article! It was fascinating! My husband and I are both railroad and history buffs.

There were still the rails imbedded in the down town streets until the about the 90's when the last bit was dug up and disposed of when the street was re-built. i think I know where there is still the remnants of a streetcar much closer then Edmonton but its nobody elses business
