The movie 'Unplanned' has come to Brandon's own movie theatre, and what a powerful movie it is. The film delves into the true story of Abby Johnson, a former director of Planned Parenthood, and her eventual conversion to the pro-life movement. I would highly recommend that everyone go and see it.  
 
If one is a secular person, they will see how traumatic and devastating abortion is to mothers, and will for most I believe, help them to see the humanity in the unborn child who is aborted and the pain that they suffer in having their life robbed of them. It will be, I hope, a call to action for all to stand up against this incredible injustice that is so horribly taking place in our society, and against the lies that are promoted by the pro-choice movement.  
 
If one is a religious person of any of the 3 main monotheistic faiths in the world, I think this film will inspire one to be emboldened in standing up against what is perhaps the greatest injustice of our time - the innocent slaughter of millions of unborn babies for the sake of societies convenience. I would suggest that almost anyone of religious faith will see just how deep-seated the evil that underlies the pro-choice cause goes, and what it's true author is. The devils ever constant attempt to try and convince us that there is no such thing as a soul, and that therefore there is no God, knows no bounds. The lies inherent in the pro-choice movement are unparalleled.  
 
In Canada alone, where our taxpayers dollars go to pay for the abortions in our country, the Canadian Institute for Health says that there were over 90,000 reported abortions in our country in 2017, which means millions more in the years past, ever since abortion became legal in our country.  
 
I would ask everyone who can to go and watch this movie. At the very least watch the film so that you might be able to make yourself informed about what the pro-life side has to say about what abortion is really like.  
 
Much of the very anti-Christian, anti-faith media, and a number of the world's largest corporations have come out up in arms over the film, and will do everything they can to dissuade you from seeing it. They have made all sort of claims about how the movie promotes lies and is a form of propaganda. I say, go and judge for yourself, and seek out the truth of the matter. The most interesting thing about the claim to tolerance that we so often see from socialism, is just how intolerant it's adherents tend to be, in particular when it comes to anything that could resemble a call to Christian values, or a reminder that God exists.  
 
Without a doubt there will be much opposition to this post. Many will argue that abortion is the women's choice, and the choice alone of the one who is considering the abortion and that somehow we as a society have no right to try and persuade them about how harmful their actions are or oppose this terrible act. To this I say that the only voice the unborn have is ours. Unfortunately the holocaust, or pretty much any major world genocide took place because people who could, did not stand up for the voiceless against the injustice that they knew was happening.  
 
Many will also argue that abortion should not be opposed, because of the case of rape or the risk to the life of the mother. This is obviously the weakest argument one can make for the majority of cases of abortion which involve neither scenario.  
 
Again, I implore everyone to go out and see the movie. Our Capitol movie theatre has the movie advertised to run until at least Wednesday, July 17th. Please tell your friends, family and neighbors to go out and watch the movie as well.  
 
For all of those who are Christian, go to this movie, and see just how present the devils work is. Pope Francis and many other theologians in our society have said that the devil's greatest trick was to convince us that he doesn't exist. I think to many of us this movie shows just how much the devil's mark is present in an abortion.  
 
None of this is to say that any of us are trying to point the finger at women who have had abortions and suggest that we should condemn them. No, I think that many of them are victims too, and we are called to love them and attempt to help them see the falsehoods that have led them to their decision. None of us can judge each other, all we can condemn is the actions that cause harm.  
 
If ever there is a cause in our society and in our community in present time that is worth protesting for, and giving ones time and money in the struggle against injustice, I would suggest that this is the one. Please all who feel so inspired, join the pro-life movement. Actively tell your friends and all you can about the harm and devastation that abortion causes. Watch the movie 'Unplanned' and decide for yourself just what you think about one of the biggest issues of our time.

What if I disagree with other issues? Should they immediately be taken down? Or just those that you deem correct?

No, I will not go see this movie. Just the ad for it alone is a trainwreck of lies, and promos are usually less than a minute long. It is pro forced-birth propaganda, nothing more.

This is Ebrandon, not a place to have these discussions. This is a very sensitive topic and having this thread will only lead to problems. Many people will be triggered by this thread and I'm not even going to start listing the many reasons why. Adam can you please remove this before it gets out of hand?

If you haven’t seen the movie how do you know that it’s contents is filled with lies? How do you know this was not Abby Johnson’s experience? Do you know her experience better than she does?  
 
I saw the movie yesterday. It was worth going to. Truth be told it’s the controversy that drew me to the movie. I expected a mediocre film that I was half interested in. But when watching it I was drawn into abby’s Story. It was really good and I recommend people see it.  
 
Stop trying to censor people you don’t agree with, let them speak and let the truth reveal itself.

I will not see the movie, not even when it comes out on Netflix or TV.  
 
I am pro-CHOICE. No person, group, or organization has a right to control a woman’s body or choice.  
 
As to taxpayers paying for abortions: we also pay for the Child Care Benefit, social services, courts and incarcerations. We pay for senior homes. We pay for things that people need. So, I’m okay with paying for abortions.

If you cannot get through a 60 second promo without going completely of the rails, then your film is most likely 10 times worse. I know the movie is full of lies because I have eyes, ears, and the ability to employ deductive reasoning. I know a propaganda film when I encounter it.  
 
As for censorship, I'm not stopping anyone from seeing this movie, that's up to them. The same freedom that allows the movie to be made, and for someone to go see it, is the same freedom that allows me to question the intellect of all those involved.

There have been many posts which I could have considered to be “triggering” to me just from the title alone . I chose to read them and if I found I was disgusted too much then I just moved on to a different post. It’s impossible to have everyone like/dislike or see things the same way I do. Frankly, it would be a boring world and not help me to strengthen my view by countering arguments I may have never thought of before.  
 
This post should not be deleted. It is not enticing anyone to hurt anyone or any other violence.  
 
Name calling did not take place in the original post, as far as I could see. If people who don’t like the movie because it would be “triggering”, they don’t have to read the post or comment on the post. They can look at the title, read the first sentence, realize they don’t like it and move on. If merely reading something you don’t like debilitates you to unfunctionality.., all I can say it must be a tough world for you on a daily basis.  
 
Until personal insults are thrown around, I see no reason to start deleting people’s comments or putting a block on comments.

I am pro life and a Catholic. I still have no desire to see this movie.  
 
I also have no desire to force my beliefs on others. My views are based on my life experiences and you will never be able to argue with me enough to change my beliefs. I respect that others who are pro choice would say the same.  
 
My faith teaches me that I need to love others and to accept them for their faults. God is the only one who gets final judgment.  
 
So while I appreciate everyone’s opinion on this very sensitive topic I respect that everyone has their own opinions. See the movie or don’t. In the end it doesn’t matter-it’s not going to change people’s perspective or life experiences.

So do you follow everything in the Bible to 100 percent accuracy? Such as wearing clothing of multiple fabrics being a sin or agreeing with the countless slaughters done by God himself? I'm guessing not, but this is one topic you cherry pick because you have a skewed world view.  
 
It genuinely scares me that so many people still allow the insane ramblings of this book to try and dictate what others do with their own lives. Have your beliefs, but keep them to yourself and quit trying to force the rest of us to believe this trash.

What scares me, is that closeminded people like you are teaching our kids. The most intelligent debate is one that considers both sides of the argument.

I am not close-minded at all. I am extremely open to new ideas in almost every aspect of life. My religious views play no part in my teaching and I strive to ensure all of my kids consider the point of view of others.  
 
I just can't in my right mind believe that there is some all powerful being out there that allows such atrocities to happen in the world (genocide, rape, and innocent children being sold into the sex trade to name just a few), but condemns those who are gay, skip church on Sunday, or have an abortion. I've done my research and due dilligence, and I have not made my mind up on this topic willy nilly, so don't come at me with your close-minded crap because I disagree with you.

You're a little off base here. I did not come onto E-brandon preaching to people that they shouldn't believe in God, nor do I go around in my daily life trying to do so.  
 
What a few people did do however, was come in here telling people how wrong it is for them to make a choice about their body because of the Bible.  
 
I am almost always willing to hear both sides of an issue, but not when it comes to anyone telling a woman what she can or can't do with her body because "God says it's bad".

Any further comments from the above three about the movie Unplanned, which is based upon the testimony of the former Planned Parenthood director Abby Johnson?

Indeed. Based on some research, it is very clear to me that much of this movie is sensationalized or completely made up in order to push their message. This is most definitely meant to be an anti-abortion propaganda film, as opposed to "just telling her story" as others have suggested.

Well said... I completely agree with you. However it's pointless trying to have a discussion on here, which is evident by how this thread is going. They will spin it however it is needed to spun. Sad really.

You are entitled to have your own opinions but do not force them on others who don't see it the same as you. No woman should ever be forced to do anything. Its her body, its her decision. Keep your religious beliefs to yourself.

You can't make truth go away by your "feelings" or opposing it.

Like I said before the best argument considers boths sides, you seem to have “researched” a long list about the negatives of religion and pro-life, but have you even tried to consider the benefits? You seem to think the religion is to blame for the growing drug abuse, rapes, genocides, etc. but maybe its the lack of religion? Its seems more popular to be a athiest now a days. Religion isnt supposed to fix all the worlds problems, its more about the individual level of self reflection and improvement.

So, this film was produced by the same studio that makes those other hilarious and corny Christian films that star Kevin Sorbo, and it was bankrolled by Mike Lindell. The MyPillow guy, a man who has declared Donald Trump the greatest president in history and chosen by God. This should tell you right from the start about who this film is geared towards.  
 
For what its worth, most films that tout themselves as being 'based on a true story' are guilty of the exact same things Unplanned is, relying on artistic license to adjust truth to serve the film's plot. So, it's not as though Unplanned is a gross lie of a film because of this, it happens lots and often in other major films as well. Similarly, because it engages in this sort self-serving fiction, it isn't in any way an accurate film either.  
 
As with most right-leaning propaganda, this film relies heavily upon instilling a sense of fear in the viewer, and it does this with shock and special effects gore that would do a similarly-budgeted horror-flick proud. It turns operating rooms into abattoirs with no regards for accuracy.  
 
Alongside fear, it relies upon the ignorance of the viewer. After all, how many people have been present for an abortion? The overwhelming majority of viewers won't know that that wriggling, recoiling fetus on screen isn't actually how a fetus is.  
 
Nearly everything Unplanned tries to pass of as actual facts are very much in the style of Kelly Conway 'alternative facts'. The only actual undeniable truth featured in this film is that Abby Johnson once worked at Planned Parenthood and then had a crisis of conscious, and quit.  
 
If you're a Trump-loving, immigrant-hating, homophobe, transphobe racist in love with the ideals of fascism and nationalism who is okay with locking up children and forcing women impregnated by rape to carry the child to term, then this film is for you! You will love it, and it will reinforce your world view. You will come away feeling vindicated, that you right to think as you do.  
 
For anyone else, gifted with a rational mind and feeling heart, it's quite easy to recognize the vile nature of this production for what it is. Never doubt that you are right to decry and denounce the presence of this film in our city.

Nowhere did I claim religion was causing these atrocities, although we know religion has been a huge part of them in the past (*cough* *cough* crusades). I merely stated that the Bible depicts a pretty ruthless God figure that allows or makes these things happen.

In Canada we have the right and freedom to express our opinion - right. wrong or indifferent. We also have something known as freedom of choice - you can choose to read this discussion and express an opinion or not read this thread. It is also your choice as to whether you watch the movie or not watch the movie. You however, do not have the right to Demand that this discussion be removed, as it is not offensive, and removing same would be in violation of a persons right to expressing their point of view.
