Committed2Brandon said "The problem with posts claiming that the film is propaganda or full of lies is that people want to make their own truth. They don’t want the film to be seen, and they don’t want people to believe that in fact the child in the womb that is aborted is capable of feeling pain, and is truly a tiny human being. They desperately want to be able to say for themselves what is moral and what is not, and what is a lie or what is fiction. Not only that, but they also want to be able to tell you what is moral and what is not. We see it all the time in much of the media who attempts to suggest that they are reporting on the truth, but then at the same time push their opinions as if they are indisputable fact. But the reality is that we have a society that is literally murdering babies, our most innocent and helpless human beings. We have a society that so desperately wants their version of what is moral to be true.
Herein lies another problem, the idea that morals are relative and that truth is what someone says it is, as opposed to something that is o:bjectively true. As long as we have a society which does not believe in Jesus Christ, we will always have differences of opinions on what is moral and what is not. The moral relativist says that what is true for you, is not true for me, and don’t try and force your opinion of truth on me. In the case of the topic of abortion, this translates into, let me murder my babies, and don’t try and tell me that it is wrong, because I don’t agree with you.
We find this situation in the very beginning of the Bible, where Adam and Eve are in the Garden of Eden and Adam is told not to eat of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil – a metaphor for Man determining his own sense of morality. The consequence of eating of the fruit is death, which is a separation from God. The devil in the form of a serpent lies to Eve in order to break her from the relationship she has with God. The devil wants Adam and Eve to determine for themselves what good and evil are, and he then wants them to offend God by adapting his version of morality. This same sort of temptation and test plays itself out in our society and with us individually all of the time.
To further illustrate, in the Bible there are numerous examples of the pagan demons wanting their followers to more then anything else sacrifice their children to them. I would then ask the question, what are we doing with our unborn children who are aborted for society’s convenience? I once heard a former Satanist high wizard (Zachery King) give a talk on how Abortion is always a satanic sacrifice. People might suggest that this is crazy, but if one believes in God I think the connection between abortion and offending God to a very deep extent is more then evident.
People will be suggesting for a long time to come the notion that a women’s choice to have a baby should come first and foremost before the idea that a child in their mothers womb has a right to live. If this is truly what you believe and you are not open to an opinion otherwise then you have decided for yourself what is right and what is wrong. Unfortunately the words of CS Lewis ring true, that the theme song in hell is “I did it my way”. This is to not to say that I, or anyone else is condemning those who have had abortions, as I said from my first post we need to show those mothers love more then anything, and none of us has the right to judge another, all we can judge are the actions that in this case cause such considerable harm. I surely hope that all who believe that abortion is ok have a change of heart at some point. I will certainly be praying for you.
God gave us a set of moral laws to follow in the Bible, he did it partially I think because he knew that people would have differences of opinions on what is right and wrong. God gave us the Bible and the truth that it contains so that we could separate the truth from the lies, true morality from evil. Putting one’s choice to kill another before the right to life is without a doubt o:bjectively evil. The writing is on the wall on this one.
Look at the fruits of abortion – women who often say that they have made the worst decision of their lives and the biggest regret of their lives by having one. We know that in countries like China and India, the male birth rate is far outpacing the female birth rate, in part because a lot of female children in their mother’s wombs are aborted, due to a preference for male babies in certain cultures. What will that look like in the future? What about our own society, and a birth rate that is not able to keep up with our own replacement?
For those who have suggested that abortion needs to be allowed for those situations where the mother is not able to afford to take care of the child, or where the child will face suffering in this life, to this I say to you, who should be the judge of that? Who is properly able to say that the child in their womb wouldn’t rather be born? Was Robert Latimer right when he murdered his own daughter, for her sake, as he so claimed?
Further, to those who claim that we as a society would not take care of those who are unwanted by their mothers, to this I say look to the very beginning of Christianity. In the Roman Empire infanticide was commonplace, in particular if a family had a girl and didn’t want them to live, or if the child was sickly somehow or deformed. It was very often the Christians who would go and save those children from certain death and then raise them as their own. It is in part because of that love that Christianity flourished in spite of the intense persecution they faced for their faith.
Again, I hope all who read these posts go to see the movie, see for yourself the horrors of abortion. I hope that those who are pro-choice have a change of heart, and those sitting on the fence join the pro-life movement and fight against what I suspect to be the greatest injustice of our time. "
That was a lot of words to say, "but the bible says..."
1) A number of us do not believe in the bible. Frankly, I've read it front to back and it's one of the most ridiculous pieces of literature (I say that loosely) that I've ever read.
So, referencing the bible to me carries as much weight as referencing Mary Poppins.
2) I'm going to go with science. So far, studies have shown that a fetus cannot feel pain until at least 35 weeks, well after the point that the bulk of abortions are performed. So your assertion about pain appears to be hogwash.
3) You say society is "literally murdering babies". Sorry, under the law, the words murder and baby have distinct definitions, neither of which your assertion meets. Words have meaning, learn them.
You can say until you're blue in the face this isn't a propaganda film. It's not based on facts, and pushes an agenda. It is literally the definition of a propaganda film. I get it, it's pushing your world view so you like its propaganda. Doesn't change the fact that it's complete and total bullshit, based on lies that are scientifically inaccurate. Hell, a journalist looked at the basic story told by the protagonist of this story, they couldn't even find a procedure that matched the one that changed her mind in the time period that she said it took place. She made it up most likely.
This film is a steaming pile, and I feel completely safe saying this without seeing it.
