Tennesse Environmental Disaster
12/30/2008 at 2:38 PM
Over one week ago a massive Environmental Disaster occured around a town called Harriman in Tennessee. Over four hundred acres of land were covered in six feet or so of Toxic/Radioactive Coal Ash. This was caused when slightly above average rain fall overloaded the spillage pond, causing it to burst its walls. In the first days (which went completely unreported in Canada and around the world)over 1.7 million cubic yards of Sludge were released. This has since been re-estimated at 5.4 million cubic yards. Enough to flood THREE THOUSAND acres 1 foot deep.
What has happened nine days ago is an environmental disaster on scale with the Exxon Valdez, if not surpassing it.
Not a peep from any Canadian media sources I could find. Despicable. My respect for Canadian Journalism is all but gone.
Remember the example set by our media if there is ever a discussion of Clean Coal Technology.
